Canada’s Davies merits Young Player Award presented by Scotiabank

SANTA CLARA, California – Canada’s Alphonso Davies was named winner of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup’s Young Player Award presented by Scotiabank.  The announcement was made Wednesday after the United States defeated Jamaica, 2-1, in the final at Levi’s Stadium.

The 16-year-old attacker, who plays with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, appeared in all four of Canada’s games, scoring three goals, including two in a tournament opening 4-2 win over French Guiana (60’, 85’).  He also netted (26’) in a 1-1 draw with Costa Rica.
