Match order for Haiti-Nicaragua Gold Cup Play-In set

MIAMI – CONCACAF conducted Friday the draw to determine the order of matches for the two-legged 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup play-in series between Haiti (5th place, 2016/17 Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup) and Nicaragua (5th place, 2017 Copa Centroamericana).

As a result of the draw -- held at CONCACAF headquarters in Miami Beach, Florida -- Haiti will host the opener on March 24, while the action will shift to Nicaragua for the second leg on March 28. Each Member Association will select the venue and kickoff times for their respective legs in the coming weeks.

The winner will be determined by total goals, with away goals being the first tie-breaker. The series will determine the 12th and last Gold Cup berth, which kicks off on July 7 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

The 11 qualified teams are: Canada, Mexico and the United States (North America); Curacao, French Guiana, Jamaica and Martinique (semifinalists in the 2016/2017 Scotiabank CFU Caribbean Cup); and Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras and Panama (top four teams from the 2017 Copa Centroamericana).

In the 2015 play-in, Honduras prevailed over French Guiana, 4-3 on aggregate, to secure a place in that year’s Gold Cup.
