In 2000, Canada ended Mexico’s Gold Cup reign by eliminating them 2-1 in the quarterfinals in San Diego and later won its only Gold Cup by beating Colombia 2-0 in the final at the Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles with goals from Jason deVos (45’) and Carlo Corazzin via penalty in the 67th minute. Corazzin finished as the tournament’s leading scorer with four goals, and goalkeeper Craig Forrest was elected the tournament's most valuable player. Ali Gerba is Canada’s all-time leading Gold Cup scorer with 6 goals.
