Seventeen years after reaching the 2002 quarterfinals, Martinique returns to the Gold Cup. In its 2002 debut, Martinique finished second in Group C behind Costa Rica and played the quarterfinals against Canada in Miami, drawing 1-1 with an own goal from Mark Rogers in the 63’ and a Kevin McKena score in the 73rd minute. The Canadians would go on to win the penalty shootout 6-5.
For the 2019 Gold Cup, Martinique will rely on goalscorer Kevin Parsemain and goalkeeper Loic Chauvet, who were the top players in Concacaf Nations League Qualifying. Kevin Parsemain is Martinique's all-time leading Gold Cup scorer (4) goals.
