CLEVELAND, Ohio.- The United States defeated Trinidad and Tobago 6-0 in front of 23,921 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Saturday night to punch its ticket to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Despite an action-packed start, U.S. supporters had to wait until the 41st minute for their team to find the opening goal.
After recovering possession off the left side, Christian Pulisic sent a lofted cross to the back post. Waiting to head home was U.S. DF Aaron Long, the New York Red Bulls man netting his first goal for the national team.
In the 66th minute, Michael Bradley clipped a ball toward goal from about 30 yards out, with Nick Lima heading it back across the face for Gyasi Zardes to tap home.
Zardes doubled his tally moments later with a marvelous curled effort off another assist from Pulisic.
The momentum continued with Pulisic scoring from close range for 4-0 in the 73rd minute, assisted by substitute Jordan Morris.
Morris then assisted Arriola to make the score 5-0 in the 79th minute.
Long bagged his brace with a chested finish on a rebound in the 90th minute for the final score of 6-0.
