Allstate Save of the Game: Andre Blake, Jamaica (19’)

There was a general feeling that if Jamaica was going to lift the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time, goalkeeper Andre Blake would have to play a significant role in Wednesday’s final against the United States.  In the 19th minute, the Philadelphia Union star – once again – made a spectacular stop, acrobatically denying Jozy Altidore’s right-footed drive.  The ball became loose and the USA’s Kellyn Acosta swooped in for a shot, only to get a piece of Blake’s hand, forcing the Reggae Boyz star from the match with an injury.  His replacement, Dwayne Miller, competed admirably, but the Americans finished as champion with a 2-1 win.  Despite the injury and defeat, Blake also deservedly earned the Golden Glove presented by Allstate as the Gold Cup’s best goalkeeper.
