U.S. roster for Mexico friendly named

Club America defender Ventura Alvarado (yellow jersey) has earned a call-up to the USA for its April 15, 2015, friendly against Mexico.

CHICAGO – United States head coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced Sunday a 22-man roster for an international friendly against visiting Mexico on April 15 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.

The squad -- composed of 13 players from Major League Soccer clubs, four from Liga MX, three based in Europe, plus one each from the North American Soccer League and American college soccer -- is highlighted the inclusion of defenders Ventura Alvarado and DeAndre Yedlin.

Alvarado, 22, recently helped Mexico’s Club America to the final of the 2014/15 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League, where it will meet the Impact de Montreal later in the month.

A revelation of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Yedlin made his English Premier League debut for Tottenham Hotspur in a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Since Klinsmann’s appointment in 2011, the U.S. has not lost to its CONCACAF rival, posting a 2W-3D-0L record over that span.
