CINCINNATI, OhioThe United States fell to a 3-0 defeat to Venezuela in its final 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup tune-up on Sunday afternoon at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Venezuela scored three goals in the first half to collect the win against the reigning Gold Cup champions.

An error from U.S. GK Zack Steffen paved the way for Salomon Rondon’s opener in the 16’, which was then followed by a Jefferson Savarino score in the 30’ and a second Rondon goal in the 36’.

The U.S. looked to mount a comeback in the second half and had several good looks at goal, but was unable to convert.

The U.S. will look to rebound in its 2019 Gold Cup opener on Tuesday, June 18 versus Guyana.
