CLEVELAND.- The second round of matches in Group D in the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup will kick-off on Saturday night in Cleveland, with second-place Panama taking on fourth-place Guyana.
Panama was victorious, 2-0, over Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday in Saint Paul, Minnesota, while Guyana was beaten 4-0 by the United States later that evening.
Panama got its win in the opener through goals from Armando Cooper and Edgar Yoel Barcenas, a strong midfield and defensive performance helping to keep the clean sheet.
Callum Harriott, who plays for Reading in the English Championship, was one of Guyana’s most electric performers in the loss to the U.S., Harriot with a few brilliant technical displays to go with his blistering pace.
Panama would go top of the group with a win or draw, although it’s a position that could be short-lived with the U.S. playing the second match of Saturday’s Group D doubleheader.
Guyana knows it will likely need a positive result to stay alive in the tournament.
Kick-off for Panama versus Guyana will be at 5:30 PM ET on Saturday.
