Mexico’s Corona merits Bright Future award
PHILADELPHIA – Mexico’s Jesus Corona was named winner of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup’s Bright Future award as the tournament’s best young player. The announcement was made Sunday after the Tricolor defeated Jamaica 3-1 in the final at Lincoln Financial Field.The 22-year-old attacker, a rising star in the Netherlands with FC Twente, appeared in five of Mexico’s six games. He scored once, a 47th minute strike in the final that gave Mexico a 2-0 lead over the Caribbean champion.
