Mexico to face Paraguay in pre-Gold Cup friendly

MEXICO CITY -- The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol announced Monday that Paraguay will face Mexico on July 1 at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Washington, in what will be the Tricolor’s last friendly before launching defense of its CONCACAF Gold Cup crown.

In 18 all-time meetings between them, Mexico holds a 9-4 advantage in wins over Paraguay. The sides last met in Atlanta, a 1-0 win for Mexico in front of more than 63,000 fans at the Georgia Dome on May 28, 2016.

Mexico will kick off its 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign on July 9 against Group C rival El Salvador in San Diego, California, before taking on Jamaica (July 13 in Denver, Colorado) in a rematch of the 2015 final and Curacao (July 16, in San Antonio, Texas).
