KANSAS CITY, Kansas -- Two Caribbean sides familiar with one another will face off for the first ever time at the Concacaf Gold Cup on Wednesday.
Guyana will take on Trinidad and Tobago at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City. While both teams are already eliminated from contention for the quarterfinals, it should be a hotly contested affair.
Guyana Manager Michael Johnson referred to some of the recent contests between the two teams as “prickly”, while also spotlighting many of the friendships that exist between the two teams.
Trinidad and Tobago is without a point and without a goal in its two matches in Group D, a 2-0 loss to Panama and a 6-0 loss to the United States, a match that was 1-0 until the 66th minute.
Guyana dropped its opener to the U.S. 4-0 before putting forth a spirited effort in a 4-2 loss to Panama.
Wednesday’s match between Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago will kick off at 6:30 PM ET.
