With the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup set to kick off Friday, CONCACAF.com concludes its series of player profiles from each of the 12 teams with Canada’s Scott Arfield.

Gold Cup Player Profile: Scott Arfield (Canada)

Scott Arfield’s experience in the English Premier League with Burnley could prove valuable to Canada in the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who – despite being from Scotland qualified to play for the Canadians thanks to his Toronto-born father – earned the first of his seven caps in a World Cup qualifier against Mexico on March 25, 2016.

Although he has yet to get on the Canada scoresheet, Arfield has assisted on three goals.  That kind of service could prove valuable during the Gold Cup, especially since Les Rouges have not scored in their last six games in the competition.

Arfield has appeared in 68 matches over the course of two Premier League campaigns.  He has also competed for Falkirk and Huddersfield Town.
