COUVA, Trinidad & Tobago – A first-half goal by Roman Torres lifted visiting Panama to a 1-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago in an international friendly on Friday at Ato Boldon Stadium.

The victory was the Canaleros’ first of the year, following a 2-0 setback at the United States last month, while Trinidad & Tobago is winless in its last three outings, going scoreless over that stretch.

Torres’ powerful header in the 16th minute off a right-sided cross by Ricardo Buitrago provided the margin of difference.

Though scoring opportunities were at a premium, Rolando Escobar did manage to hit the crossbar from distance for the visitor.

Panama returns home for a March 31 encounter against Costa Rica at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez.
