Donovan named Golden Ball winner

CHICAGO – Landon Donovan of the United States was named the winner of the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup’s Golden Ball as the tournament’s most outstanding player. The announcement was made Sunday after the Americans defeated Panama 1-0 in the final at Soldier Field.

It was the first time that Donovan won the honor after six attempts and four Gold Cup titles.

The LA Galaxy star finished the competition with five goals and seven assists.  He shared the Golden Boot award with team mate Chris Wondolowski and Panama’s Gabriel Torres.
