PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania -- The Unites States and Curacao will take to the field at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday night in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup.
This is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Prior to 2010, Curacao was part of the Netherlands Antilles National Team. The U.S. is unbeaten with a win and a draw in two matches with the Netherlands Antilles, both of which happened prior to 1990.
Curacao made its Gold Cup debut in 2017, losing all three of its matches by 2-0 scorelines. Here in 2019, the return to the Gold Cup has seen Curacao pick up a historic first win (1-0 over Honduras) and a first ticket to the knockout rounds.
Meanwhile, the U.S. has had a relatively smooth ride to this point, winning all three group stage games and scoring 11 goals while conceding none.
The match between the U.S. and Curacao will kick off at 8:00 PM ET on Sunday night, preceded by Jamaica vs. Panama. The winners of each game will then face-off in a semifinal in Nashville next week.
