LIMA, Peru Costa Rica continued its preparation for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup with a narrow 1-0 defeat versus Peru in an international friendly on Wednesday night at the Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru.

The hosts were mostly in control, but they found it difficult going against a stellar Tico defense.

It was not until the 55’ when Peru was able to break the deadlock thanks to a fine right-footed finish from Christian Cueva.

Costa Rica had several looks at goal in the final half-hour to try to equalize, but was unable to find a way past the Peruvian back line.

Costa Rica will kick off its 2019 Gold Cup campaign on Sunday, June 16 versus Nicaragua.
