Canada int’l Larin a hit for Orlando City SC in New York

NEW YORK -- Cyle Larin loves New York.

Not only does the Canada international have a substantial history of scoring against both of Major League Soccer’s New York-based teams, he has made it a habit of filling the nets in their stadiums, scoring 10 times in the Big Apple since 2015.

For the record, Larin has tallied 13 goals in as many games – home and away -- against New York City FC (7 games/9 goals) and the New York Red Bulls (6 games/4 goals).

On Sunday, the 22-year-old forward struck twice to give visiting Orlando City SC a 2-1 win over NYCFC, which coach Jason Kreis termed "a monster performance."

“I think it is a good matchup,” Larin was quoted as saying on the Orlando City website. “I made sure I wanted to play well.”

Which he did and then some.

“I just have to keep scoring. It is nice to keep scoring against them and it is nice we got the win,” commented Larin, who has scored goals in as many MLS games this season. “We have to keep playing well and I have to keep scoring for my team.”

His fast start could not come at a better time as Canada starts looking towards this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup.

As it turns out, Larin and company will kick off their Group A campaign against French Guiana on July 7 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, where he already has scored four times in three games.
