Rentschler Field is Connecticut's sports & entertainment stadium owned by the State of Connecticut. With a capacity of 40,000, it provides the perfect setting for international soccer. Rentschler opened in 2003 and the U.S. women defeated China 3-1 that same year in a friendly in the first-ever soccer match at the facility. That game laid the foundation for soccer's continued presence in the state for the years to follow. Other prominent meetings included Celtic-Liverpool (2004), U.S. men v Trinidad & Tobago (2005, World Cup Qualifying), U.S. men v Latvia (2006), U.S. women v Norway (2007), U.S. men v Czech Republic (2010) and U.S women v Germany (2012).
