As the centerpiece to a 127-acre (50-hectare) sports complex on the campus of the University of California, Dominguez Hills, the Home Depot Center has become one of the main focal points of soccer in the United States. Besides serving as the home of the Galaxy since 2003 and Chivas USA since that club's foundation in 2005, the facility is the training base for the U.S. Soccer Federation's national teams. It also has been host to the MLS Cup championship game three times, was the site for the 2003 Women's World Cup final, been used for the Gold Cup in 2005 and 2007, as well as numerous qualifying and friendly matches. This year, it added the Sol among its tenants when the Women's Professional Soccer league launched and with its athletics stadium, velodrome and tennis stadium, it has been the scene for numerous events other than soccer from the WTA Tour to the X Games.
