With an exterior designed to resemble a barrel cactus, University of Phoenix Stadium features a fully retractable grass field that can be moved outside entirely - the first of its kind in North America. It also has a two-piece translucent fabric roof that can be retracted to open the stadium, or closed and air conditioned during the summer months. While primarily the home of the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League and also the site of annual American college football's annual Fiesta Bowl, the stadium also accommodated a crowd of 62,462 for a friendly between the United States and Mexico on February 7, 2007, and hosted a friendly between Chivas de Guadalajara and the New York Red Bulls in June. Other Phoenix venues have served as soccer venues, most recently a friendly between Mexico and Ecuador in November.
